Pool pumps have historically been schedulable but have not been grid-connected, and have not employed advanced controls. Pentair’s variable speed pool pumps thave internal algorithms so that the daily flow volume set by the customer using the scheduler function will be maintained by the pump system, even while responding to price and greenhouse gas (GHG) signals. The control system that enables variable speed control is deployed through their IntelliConnect product, which makes pool pumps web-enabled, and provides the ability to control the pump through either a cell phone app or web-based communication, enabling demand response or load shifting control. These controls will maintain the same amount of daily flow volume as scheduled by the customer.This project will test pool pump internal algorithms so that the daily flow volume set by the customer will be maintained by the pump system, even while responding to price and GHG signals.
