CalFlexHub Website Launch
CalFlexHub is excited for the launch of its newly updated and expanded website! CalFlexHub seeks to be the central place for showcasing emerging load flexible technologies and projects, sharing research and best practices, and building a collaborative and connected innovation ecosystem. We hope this website will be a valuable resource for all stakeholders–innovators, researchers, policymakers, industry partners, corporate strategics, investors, customers, communities, and more.
We would like to thank CalFlexHub’s many partners, advisors, and supporters that have helped make the vision of CalFlexHub a reality. Together we will accelerate the transition towards dynamic energy management and deliver the much needed load flexibility for California and beyond.

Project Spotlight: Pool Pumps: SkyCentrics | Pentair
Learn More About
SkyCentrics and Pentair
CalFlexHub innovators, SkyCentrics and Pentair, are partnering together to work on Residential Flexible Pool Pump Controls in response to dynamic electricity price signals. Pool pumps have historically been schedulable but have not been connected to the grid nor have employed advanced controls. This project will test pool pump internal control algorithms so that the daily scheduled flow volume set by the customer will be maintained by the pump system, even while responding to price and GHG signals.
Project Spotlight: Smart Thermostats: Olivine | ecobee
For CalFlexHub, Olivine is partnering with ecobee to test Residential Smart Thermostat Price Response. Ecobee thermostats are wifi-enabled programmable thermostats that are used in residential and small business applications. They are typically programmed manually by customers including options to respond to utility’s demand response events. This demonstration project will test the ability of thermostats to respond directly to digital pricing signals and adjust temperature setpoints based on signals that may vary more frequently than in a simple time-of-use (TOU) rate schedule or conventional demand response event. Several of the sites are in disadvantaged community locations, with low to moderate income households.
