Stakeholder perspectives on the role of standards in establishing a load-flexible ecosystem

Effective integration of load-flexible devices into residential and commercial buildings is integral to the success of California’s vision for continuous load management. In this paper, researchers are examining stakeholders’ priorities, constraints, and needs with respect to a transition to highly dynamic prices and automated load flexibility. In-depth interviews were conducted with 95 individuals across four stakeholder groups—energy service providers, technology providers, large commercial customers, and energy/environmental interest groups.
